Important information

Being Google Adsense user, You have to comply with some rules or Your account will get banned and earned money will be lost.

Most common rules, which You must respect:

  • Never click on Your own ads (even for test, clicks also can't be generated automatically – they must be done by users)
  • Never encourage people to click Your ads by any way (asking friends, marking ads as better seen with signs telling to click, don’t use “click here”, only thing You can write around Google ads are words: Ads or Sponsored Links) – it’s one of most often mistakes made by webmasters, and they are losing their accounts. If one account is banned, it’s impossible to make a new one.
  • Don’t mark ads with any arrows, pulsing borders, don’t set them to pop-up or frames – just don’t make it look like “click me”
  • Don’t use any robots or scripts generating false clicks
  • Don’t put ads on any warez, porn, insulting or not polite sites
  • Don’t touch structure of the ads code – just copy and paste it, don’t do anything for Your own

If You will follow and respect these rules, You will never get banned. Google never ban accounts for free – You don’t risk unjustified lose of earned money. Of course except from following rules You can do a lot of things to maximize Your profit. How to do it was written before.

Competitive Ads Filter

Google allows users of Adsense to filter ads of competitive websites. It’s often used to eliminate ads of competitive sites to Yours, but You can also use it to increase Your revenue. Filter is working in way, that when You add there competitive website url, this website’s ad will not be displayed on Your site. Unfortunately, a lot of people are advertising their sites using almost all keywords, paying less that 1 cent per click. Obviously, You don’t want these clicks, so You have to filter these sites. Actually, some of these less-paying sites are: ebay.com and sites, which address contain top_x_sites. Filtering them will maximize Your revenue.

Ad Formats

Google Adsense offers a lot of different ad formats, which displays different amount of ads. You can put up to 3 ad units per website (which can be all of them in 1 format) and 1 link unit. Some of these ad units show also graphic banners(not only text boxes). You can either set ad boxes or ad links, which can be placed near menu and being similar to Your sites menu, increasing amount of clicks. More tips about placing ads on site You can find in thread Ad Placement. Below You can see examples of ad boxes. Showing link units is pointless (there are just text links, which are bringing us money). More about link units also in thread Ads Placement.

Earning for Webmasters...Google Adsense

Have You got a website? Do You know, that You can effective earn money in biggest world internet company – Google? Here You will get detailed information about the Adsense advertising program, which enables to earn money from Your website. Signing up an account at Google Adsense is really easy – You only have to fill a short application form and write Your username at Google Accounts (Google Accounts user is user with his password at Gmail service, if You have it. If You not, You can make it in few seconds using Your actual e-mail).

Google Ads is an offer for webmasters, who want to earn money on their webpages by putting on them ads, connected with the content of websites. It’s obviously the best, most popular and best paid advertising program over the world. There are about few millions of members of Google Adwords contextual ads. Practically, You can be almost sure, that there will never be lack of ads on Your website, in consequence Your profits will have no break. We are getting money for every click on ad arranged on our website. Prices of those clicks are very different – starting with 1 cent and ending on few dollars per click. Prices are connected with content of the site – reliable, popular site, about expensive houses or exclusive yachts will obviously have much better paid ads than a site about music. As a Google Adsense user I can say, that prices on music sites are average 7-10 cents per click. How much daily will You earn it’s just up to You. For more information, I encourage to read thread “How much will I earn?”.
How much will I earn?
Your profits are up to You, as it has been said before. The most important factor, having impact on Your revenue is obviously the popularity of Your site. Next is ratio between clicks on ads and page views (called CTR). Last one is a price for click, which You have lowest influence on (but You still have – see Ads Filter).

Most important is to increase amount your daily traffic. But how to increase it? Either easiest or the best idea to increase daily visits is updating the content of the site. Of course design of our site also matters – site don’t have to be a miracle of graphic technology, but it should be clear for users. Remember – good sites are getting more popular by Silent Marketing – recommending Your site by users. Except from content update, You should also promote Your website by many different places available in the internet. Very good idea for promoting website is link exchange with sites with the same subject, adding site to the toplists, directories and advertising site by different communication solutions, like forums and so on.

Next thing, on which depend Your profits is CTR ratio, which is mostly connected with a placement of ads on Your site. Ads should be arranged in places well seen by Your users. Good idea is to place for example link units (You can read about them in thread Ad Formats) below menu or place on the left or right side of webpage banner called Wide Sky-Scraper. More about most profitable ads placement You can find in thread Ad Placement.

Enough theory, let’s see the practical side. To earn minimum payout limit (100$) in few months, with well placed ads, our site has to have about 50 unique visits daily. Of course equal to increasing visits our revenue will also increase - Google Adsense has no limits with monthly revenue (a lot of webmasters are earning over 100 thousands dollars monthly – but they a really huge daily traffic on their sites). Google Adsense doesn’t set limit of websites per user, so You can make the traffic on a few or even few hundreds of websites. Google doesn’t require to inform them about every new website – once accepted application is enough and You can put Your ad codes on no limit number of websites (except from sites containing porn and some other forbidden subjects – more about Google Adsense rules You can find in thread Important Information). Earned money is paid out monthly after every exceed 100$ (more in Payments thread)

Google AdSense On A Blog Update by John Chow

As some may recall, I am running a case study to see if a personal blog can make money with Google AdSense. Here are the results so far. For the month of September, the blog made $352.94 from Google AdSense ads. However, you have to keep in mind that the ads were not turn on until September 17th, so these results represent only 13 days. That works out to $27.15 per day, which isn’t too bad. It won’t allow you to quit your job but it is a pretty decent part time income. There are a few things to note however.

The first thing is ad placements weren’t fully tweaked last month. I was still fooling around with different ad sizes, positioning, blending, etc. The key to AdSense success is to keep tweaking until you get it right. Sometimes the tweaks can step over the line. This email from Google put the brakes on my super blending AdSense trick. Right now, the current AdSense placement is to have a 468 at the top of the post, another 468 at the bottom of the post, and a 300 box inline with the blog content.

The best performing ad unit is the 300 box, follow by the 468 top then the 468 bottom. Percentage wise, the 300 box gets twice as many clicks as the 468 banners. This is not surprising since it’s the biggest ad and it’s embedded right into the blog post itself. I would like to know how you feel about this. Do you find the ad too intrusive? Does it turn you away from the blog? Feedback on my ad placement would be welcome.

The Digg factor didn’t have that much of an impact on blog revenues at first. However, by the time the 5th and 6th Diggs came along, I had managed to tweak the placements of the ads to the point where it made almost $100 on its biggest traffic day. I am very confident that the blog can make money on a Digg now.

So far, Google is the only monetization method used on the blog. Adding other revenue streams like text link ads, affiliate deals and Vibrant Media can easily double blog income. However, for this month I will just run the Google ads and nothing else.

Make Money Online? - Know First The 4 Sources Of Traffic

Think about this for a second… If you are not making a lot of money online, most likely it is because you can’t get enough traffic coming to your website, right?

The equation is simple: “traffic + conversion = money”

No traffic = No Visitors = No Sales

No traffic = No List = No Money

Yes, Traffic is the holy grail of internet marketing. Without traffic, your dream of making money from home and becoming an internet millionaire remains to be just a dream.

So how do you drive traffic? How do you send visitors to your website?

First, let’s examine what are the kinds of traffic. Boy! We’re dealing with hard core strategies so let’s go beyond the usual tips like write articles, PPC or SEO. We’ll talk about that later. Let’s examine first what are these traffic sources.

There are only four (4) sources of traffic:
1. Create the traffic
2. Buy the traffic
3. Borrow

1. Create the traffic. “Build it and they will come” In the early days of the internet, this phrase is a recipe for failure. But today, the phrase is your ticket to success. Build a website targeted to your chosen market and they will come.

Use words, keywords that your chosen market are using and the search engines will guide them to you. Build good content and Google will help you.

Learn SEO techniques. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. Study what Google wants. Well, whether you like it or not, Google is THE search engine. Personally, I don’t optimize for Yahoo and MSN anymore, I just target Google. The latest figures show that it has already captured almost 60% of the search market with Yahoo a far second and MSN a dismal third.

2. Buy the traffic. The words associated with this traffic source are adwords, PPC or Pay-Per-Click, advertising, etc.

Adwords is Google’s great advertising program where you can have an opportunity to have your site seen by prospects instantly. My! Have you tried it? Sign up and give it a try. You’ll be floored to see how fast your ad gets in place.

3. Borrow the traffic. This is where the power of your networking comes to play. Basically you just have to contact a partner who has a huge list of subscribers and ask him if he could announce your product to the list. Others call this Joint Venture.

4. Referral Traffic. Wow! You are a celebrity and hundreds of people are linking back to your site and promoting you. With the advent of Web 2.0 the job gets easier. Digg, Mybloglog, Technorati, Blipoo, Myspace, Squidoo are some of the sites to consider.

The beauty of the Web 2.0 as a traffic source is that it is instant. Not like SEO or article marketing which needs weeks to get visitors flowing to your site, Web 2.0 traffic is on the spot. Unlike PPC, referral traffic is free.

As a strategist, you have to understand these four traffic sources as these four have also different monetization strategies. Come back to this site and you’ll learn some strategies to make money online. (Tip: Do you know that visitors coming from the search engines are the ones that would most likely click your adsense ads? Yes. And Web 2.0 traffic are the least likely to click the ads.)

Making $500 a month from Adsense posted by Adsense Decoder

If you are an active member of Adsense Help Forum, I am sure you must read a post that talk about how to make $500 a month from Adsense. A member called adsenseriches shares with us about his techniques of doing so. Below is his sharing:

There are lots of people making more than $500 a month.
So, how is this done?
I use the wash-rinse-repeat method:

1) Wash
a) Keyword research (tip: don't go after the high paying keywords, those are virtually impossible to get good rankings for)
b) Decide on a suitable domain name, based on the keyword(s). It's often a complete phrase, since it has less competition and it's also easier to find an available domain.
c) Create Content
d) Upload to your host.

2) Rinse:
Tell the world about your site, using various linking strategies...
a) I have already made a post about Tag & Ping on another forum.
b) You can submit your site to many directories as well.
c) Use some of your content as posts to n article directories, with a backlink in your signature)
d) Participate in forums related to your keyword/niche

3) Repeat!
Do it all over again, using a new keyword/niche.

Tips to achieve such goal:
Once you got your earnings coming, use those to fund your growth. Find a cheap domain name registrar - less than $10/per year for a .com is acceptable:
www.datorsamdomains.com

Get lots of hosting accounts in order to get the sites on different IP addresses:

AGLOCO Growing Pains

Every new startup has growing pains and AGLOCO is no different. It seems they under estimated the number of sign-ups they would get over the thanksgiving long weekend and that created a major traffic jam. Members were getting error messages when trying to log into their control panel and new sign-ups were not getting their confirmation emails. It was quite a bit of a mess really. AGLOCO seems to have recovered from their Black Friday rush but many new members are still waiting for their confirmation email. If you haven’t gotten one yet, just sit tight, you will get it.

One question that came up was about signing up family members in the same household and whether that was allowed. The answer is yes. AGLOCO realizes that today’s internet connected home can have many computers / laptops sharing the same IP and almost every family members surf the Internet. AGLOCO has accounted for this and will allow you to sign up members of your family even if they live under the same roof. Just don’t go inventing new family members!

I am setting up an interview with AGLOCO’s founder, Stanford MBA graduate, Akshay Mavani. A.K. is an extremely busy guy right now so I really do appreciate him taking time out of his schedule to do this interview. Look for it in the next day or two.

A few people have asked me how many people I have signed up for AGLOCO. When I told them, they didn’t believe me and asked me to post a screen shot. So, here it is.

For me AGLOCO is a pretty easy sell. I look at it this way; it doesn’t cost you any money to sign up and if you’re on the Net more than 5 hours a month there’s no additional time investment either. The worst-case scenario is you sign up nobody and make a buck or two each month from your own surfing. Even in the worst case, you still come out a head. Not a bad deal at all if you ask me.

Attitude Session - How Evil Do You Think? by John Chow

There is an old saying that states if you want to be like somebody, you got to think like somebody. In other words, if you want to be like evil (that’s me), you have think like evil. Earlier today, I posted a test to see if there were any evil thinkers out there.

What Were You Thinking?

When I made the post about the Technorati glitch that had everyone ranked at number 1, what went through your mind? If it was taking a screen shot so you can post it on your blog, you were not thinking like evil. You see, the first thing that came into my mind when I saw that was to update my ReviewMe ranking.

Mind you, the updated ranking doesn’t give me any more stars since I already have the maximum five. However, having the 1 next to those star looks pretty damn cool!

I’m a little dismay to find out that only one other blog took advantage of the Technorati glitch. Congrats to Steve’s Tech Blog for some evil outside the box thinking.

When an opportunity presents itself, you have to take advantage of it. This evil out of the box thinking is what’s going to make you the big Internet bucks. A lot of my success came from simple ideas that people didn’t think up but now everyone is copying because they see the success I have. Being a first mover gives you a major advantage. Remember, the only million dollar home page that actually made a million dollar was the first one.

Why I Didn’t Tell Readers To Update Their ReviewMe Stats

There were two reasons why I didn’t tell readers to update their ReviewMe stats. The first was I wanted to see if anyone else was able to pick up on it. The second was I didn’t need a bunch of 4-star blogs hitting five stars and pushing me down on the ReviewMe blog list.

Evil always thinks one step ahead.
